he finds himself sitting on the sands of the beach of the tiny peace of land they rested upon on. head hanging behind, legs sprawled on the ground and torso leaning backwards with his his arms supporting his weight, kyle took a moment to stabilize himself.

his flygon gave a sudden roar.

kyle looks to his side and sees the dragon-type getting fidgety around the clamperl that was washed ashore. the water-type had clammed up so that only the outside of its shell can be seen, but kyle can still differentiate it from a shellder.

"just throw it back in the water," he instructs the flygon.

the dragon-type chucks the clamperl back with superpower. there was a huge splash on the spot where it landed and sunk into the water's surface, but kyle knew it would be fine. that's what he wanted to believe at least.

his flygon had been quiet for a while. kyle gets curious and turns back at his pokemon.

"hey, we should-"

there was a pause as he took in the scene of his dragon-type standing awfully still, staring at the blue waters of the ocean. knowing it wasn't natural, his eyes follows the dragon-type's gaze to find an injured Gyarados floating in the water, knocked out. it begins to drift towards the beach they were on.

he assumes the water-type had been the target of the flygon when he threw the clamperl. the splash was made from the gyarados' efforts to cling on to the last moments of its life. the clamperl was nowhere to be seen, but it can be assumed that it just sank into the water after the collision. hopefully, it wasn't as dead as the gyarados.

"might as well, i guess. can't let it go to waste."

rolling up his pants to his knees and leaving his footwear on the sands, kyle proceeds to wade through the shallow parts until he meets the gyarados. seeing the faint rise of its sides, he lobs a pokeball at it in an attempt to capture.
